Free Graphic Design Software
Corel Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop are two of the computer design world's leading graphic design programs available today. However, they come with lofty price tags. I've been designing for over a decade and I teach workshops on computer graphic design. Through the years, I've come to know, quite well, a few graphic design software titles. Today, I put empahsis on two titles that are available to you for free.
Info:
The first and most powerful (IMO) of the two is ArtWeaver.
Artweaver is a simple Freeware program for creative painting, i.e. Artweaver offers you all artistic effects which you need for your work. You can create sketches from photos and experiment with a wide range of brushes. I use this software in my own workshops and I see it has many features of the paid programs. It's digital photography options/effects make good competition for photoshop.
GIMP is the other free graphic design software I want to mention today.
GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.
Tutorials:
You can find tutorials with GIMP here.
There are not many tutorials online for ArtWeaver. You can find a few on the main site, and I've put together several of my own over the past year as well. You can access them here.
